US President Donald Trump said in a statement regarding China's decision to impose 34 percent tariffs in retaliation,"China did wrong. They panicked. The one thing they cannot afford to do." Trump also said,"I want to tell many investors this: My policies will never change."

The bilateral customs duties announced by US President Donald Trump on April 2 have sparked reactions worldwide. After China announced that it would impose the same customs duty on all US goods in retaliation for the 34% customs duty announced by Trump, the US President made a new statement. Trump said in a statement on his social media platform Truth Social,"China made a mistake. They panicked. The one thing they can't afford to do!"

In another post, Trump said he had a phone conversation with Vietnamese President To Lam about taxes, adding,"I had a very productive phone conversation with To Lam. He said that Vietnam wants to reduce taxes to zero if they make a deal with the US. I thanked him on behalf of our country and said I look forward to a meeting in the near future."

Trump said in a post regarding the sanctions,"I want to say to the many investors who have come to the United States and made large investments: My policies will never change. This is a great time to be rich, richer than ever before."

Trump also addressed the Federal Reserve System (FED) Chairman Jerome Powell, the central bank of the United States, in another post, saying,"This is the perfect time for Powell to lower interest rates. He is always late, but now he can change his image and do it quickly. Energy prices are down, interest rates are down, inflation is down, even the price of eggs is down 69%, unemployment is up. All of this happened in just 2 months. A big win for the United States. Jerome, lower interest rates and stop playing with politics."
