Condemnation and Support for Qatar

US Support for Israel

The Israeli attack on the residence of Hamas leaders in the Qatari capital, Doha, last Tuesday was undoubtedly a treacherous blow, but it also reveals major Arab illusions, which some believed to be established facts for decades.

Some Arab governments with strong, long-standing ties with the United States believe that these relations are a lasting friendship, closer to the relationship between two lovers, while Washington views these relations solely from the perspective of interests, and sacrifices everything if these interests change. Sometimes, it even deliberately humiliates Arab parties, confident that there will be no reaction. It harms its interests, and I think that this dilemma is due to many objective reasons, but there is also a certain culture and way of thinking that is closer to emotions than to rationality and realism. The Western mind in general, and the American mind in particular, thinks most of the time only in a pragmatic way, and this is not a defect, while the Arab mind often thinks emotionally, elevating feelings at the expense of facts and tangible interests, a way that sometimes causes catastrophic losses. Because of this great difference in way of thinking, we can understand the secret of the widespread Arab shock among Arab governments and peoples over the Israeli aggression against Qatar, and more dangerous than that is the blatant and exposed American complicity. Let us say what we want about the Israeli aggression against the region in general, and Doha in particular, and that it is against international legitimacy and the sovereignty of states, and we must denounce, condemn and condemn it, but we must wake up as Arabs and remember that this is a permanent Israeli approach, which has not It never changes, we are the only ones who thought it changed, Israel has no dear ones and looks at everyone who is not Jewish as a stranger. I even think that it does not differentiate much between the resistant Arab and the peaceful and conciliatory Arab. To it, everyone is an Arab who should be exterminated if possible, so that some of them will not one day demand that it return rights to their owners. We remember that the most extremist Israelis always repeated that the good Arab is the dead Arab!! As for the official Arab view of the American administration, it is often immersed in many illusions. Some believe that these relations are equal, while the reality is  He says the opposite. It is impossible to talk about a relationship of equality between a nuclear superpower with the strongest economy in the world and small countries in terms of population, resources, and comprehensive power in our Arab world or Africa. Equality exists only in theory and in some international agreements, but in reality, it does not exist at all. Some believe that these official relations between America and the Arab countries are a relationship of alliance and friendship, and this does not exist either. The basic criterion for the United States is to achieve American interests only. We have a lesson and a warning in the policies and decisions of US President Donald Trump since his return to the White House. He does not care about anything, especially what relates to Israel. We saw him threaten Europe, NATO, Canada, Japan, Ukraine, and Denmark with all weapons, from imposing tariffs and raising contributions to the NATO budget, to trying to annex Canada, the Danish island of Greenland, and the Panama Canal. If Trump does this with his closest allies, should we be surprised if he does the same with Qatar or any other country? Personally, I used to think that Trump only understood the language of interests, paperwork, and everything tangible and material, but after the Qatar strike, I became skeptical about that. The man received nearly a trillion dollars from Doha a few months ago, according to what he said, and despite that, he colluded with Israel in the strike, and he could have easily prevented it completely. Therefore, the rest of the Arabs must learn lessons from this dangerous development in American thinking. Are we, for example, facing the return of blatant, direct colonialism, instead of remote, Hariri colonialism? The fundamental question: Are there weapons in the hands of the Arab countries to use against this American-Israeli bullying?! The answer is: Yes, without a doubt, but it is a conditional yes, restricted by a million conditions and restrictions. America and Israel only dared to attack us after they had exploited our weakness and division for decades, perhaps since the end of the October 1973 War. We Arabs have squandered many opportunities and cards, and most of us thought we could succeed on our own if we came together, reconciled, and formed an alliance with the enemy. Then came the Israeli strike on Doha to reveal something important: the collapse of the theory of relying on the American friend, let alone the Israeli wolf! Theoretically, the Arabs can unite, or at least coordinate among themselves, not to stop the genocide of the Palestinian people and the liquidation of the Palestinian cause, but rather to ensure their national security, each country separately. There is a historic opportunity before the Arab and Muslim leaders gathered today in Doha, which is to send a practical message to Washington and Tel Aviv. If they fail to do so, the future will be worse! Will everyone learn the lesson, or will they repeat the tragedy of Sisyphus in the famous Greek myth?!
