US Secretary of State Marco Rubio called the attack a Russian drones to Poland "unacceptable, sad and dangerous" event.
"The drones were launched intentionally. There is no doubt that they were launched intentionally. The question is whether the drones were intended to fly into Poland," the Secretary of State wondered.
He noted that if the available data leads the US to such a conclusion,"then it is obvious that this was an extremely escalating step," reports Reuters.
"There are a number of other possibilities, but we want to gather all the facts and consult with our allies before drawing any final conclusions," Rubio explained the US position.
It is noteworthy that US President Donald Trump previously expressed himself in the same spirit.
US reaction to Russian drones in Poland
Despite the fact that the reaction to the incident by European officials was lightning fast, Trump did not comment on it. Only after some time did he post on social media, saying,"We need Russian drones in Poland."
The next day, probably after some reflection, he went public with another comment, suggesting that the Russian drone strike on Poland was a mistake:"Maybe it was a mistake. But regardless, I'm not happy with anything about this situation."
