Jakarta, CNN Indonesia --
Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani urged the international community to stop using double standards in assessing Israel's crimes in Gaza.
He also urged the world community to punish Israel for its crimes.
Al Thani made this statement at a preparatory meeting ahead of an emergency summit of Arab and Islamic leaders hosted by Qatar. The summit was initiated after the Zionist state carried out airstrikes against Hamas leaders in Doha.
"The time has come for the international community to stop using double standards and punish Israel for all the crimes it has committed," he was quoted as saying by AFP, Sunday (14/9).
He also said Tel Aviv needs to know that genocide and the expulsion of Palestinians from their own land will not be achieved.
"Israel needs to know that the ongoing war of extermination experienced by our Palestinian brothers, and which aims to drive them from their land, will not succeed," added the prime minister.
Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed al-Ansari said a meeting of Arab and Islamic leaders on Monday would discuss a draft resolution regarding Israel's attacks on Qatar.
Leaders who will attend include Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani.
Meanwhile, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas arrived in Doha on Sunday, ahead of the summit. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is also expected to attend, Turkish media reported. However, it remains unclear whether Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MbS), the de facto ruler of Saudi Arabia, will attend.
Qatar hosts the largest US military base in the Middle East. It plays a key role as a mediator in the Israel-Hamas war, alongside the United States and Egypt.
Separately, Hamas politburo member Bassem Naim hopes the summit will produce a firm and unified position from the Arab and Islamic countries.
Hamas also hopes that this summit will produce clear and specific steps towards Israel.
Previously, former Israel Defense Forces (IDF) commander Herzi Halevi said more than 200,000 Palestinians were killed or injured in the aggression on Gaza.
Halevi said more than 10 percent of Gaza's population of 2.2 million had been killed or injured.
That figure is close to the number reported by the Gaza Health Ministry, which Israeli officials have frequently dismissed as Hamas propaganda.
