Ukrainian Attacks on Russian Infrastructure

Immediate Threat and Security Alerts

Former President of Poland Andrzej Duda commented for the first time on the incursion of Russian drones into his country's airspace. He expressed his opinion on RMF FM .

According to the former president of Poland, when talking about the reasons for the drone raid, he is considering two possible options.

"At the moment, I do not have access to state secrets, I was not at the meetings convened by the president, but there are potentially two options. Either the Russians carried out this action as part of the Zapad exercises, and these were one-time exercises that tested our defense capabilities and NATO solidarity, or, unfortunately, we are dealing with a very serious situation. Much more serious. This means that we are witnessing the beginning of a new version of a kind of hybrid attack that has been ongoing on Poland since 2021," Duda said.

He also commented on Poland's reaction to the invasion, emphasizing that"we reacted as best we could" and that "no matter what the cost of the shootdown was," he said,"the lives of Poles are priceless."

"We didn't have the ability to respond to this drone attack in a more cost-effective way, so we had to get the planes in the air, which means we had to deploy the heaviest artillery," the former president said.

In addition, he assessed the reaction to the incident by US President Donald Trump, who suggested that the violation of Polish airspace by Russian drones could have been the result of a mistake.

"I don't give Donald Trump's words the same importance as the media. I don't engage in such exegesis,"dissection" of his every word, because I know Donald Trump and I know that his statements often mislead his opponents... In my opinion, the president Donald Trump"is constantly looking for a way to end the war in Ukraine and appease Putin without military action. My opinion is that President Trump is very, very sensitive to the issue of the United States' participation in military conflicts to any extent," Duda noted.

Statements by other politicians about Russian drones in Poland

As UNIAN previously reported, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorsky ridiculed the Russian narrative about drones in Poland. He drew attention to the fact that Russia presents several versions of events that do not correspond to each other, and hinted that he does not believe any of them."The Russian government claims that Russian drones mistakenly violated Polish airspace, while the Russian ambassador to the UN states that it is physically impossible for Russian drones to reach Poland. What Russian lies should we believe?" the Polish Foreign Minister wrote.

According to the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, launching drones into Poland - definitely not a coincidence. He stated that there is a full analysis of the trajectory of the drones, and"all this indicates that the launch of Russian drones into Poland via Ukraine and Belarus was planned."

Prime Minister of Poland Donald Tusk threatened a response to any attempts to attack his country in the future. He stated that anyone"who wants to attack Poland in any way will be adequately punished," and added that Warsaw would closely monitor "events on the eastern border" related to joint exercises between Russia and Belarus.
