President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi sent a message to the Israeli people, saying: What is happening now undermines the future of peace and threatens your security and the security of the peoples of the entire region.
He added, during the extraordinary Arab-Islamic summit on the Israeli aggression against Doha, held on Monday, that what is happening is hindering any prospects for new peace agreements and is even thwarting any peace agreements with countries in the region.
He pointed out that at this point, the consequences would be dire, with the region returning to an atmosphere of conflict and the historic peace-building efforts and gains achieved through them being lost. This is a price that everyone, without exception, will pay.
He continued: Do not allow the efforts of our ancestors for peace to be in vain, and regret to be futile.
The President affirmed Egypt's complete rejection of the targeting of civilians and the policy of collective punishment and starvation practiced by Israel against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, emphasizing that this policy has led to the deaths of tens of thousands of innocent civilians over the past two years.
He noted that military solutions, aborting mediation efforts, and instead continuing to impose a fait accompli through brute force will not achieve security for any party.
Qatar is hosting an Arab and Islamic summit today, Monday, with the participation of a number of Arab and Islamic leaders to discuss ways to respond to the Israeli aggression against Qatari territory.
Doha hosted a preparatory meeting yesterday evening for foreign ministers and representatives from 57 Arab and Islamic countries. The meeting discussed a draft statement regarding the Israeli attack on Qatar, which targeted the residential headquarters of several Hamas leaders in Doha last Tuesday.
