President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Monday on the sidelines of the emergency Arab-Islamic summit being held in the Qatari capital, Doha.

Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, the official spokesperson for the Presidency of the Republic, stated that the meeting witnessed a joint affirmation of the growing momentum in relations between Egypt and Turkey, and the ongoing coordination between the two countries at the bilateral and regional levels, as well as in international forums.

Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, the official spokesman, explained that the two presidents expressed their strong condemnation of the Israeli aggression against the sisterly State of Qatar, considering it a flagrant violation of the provisions of international law and the United Nations Charter. They also reiterated their complete rejection of the blockade and starvation policies to which the Palestinian people are subjected, which aim to displace Palestinians from their homeland. They stressed the need to end the humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip, and emphasized that the only way to achieve lasting stability in the region is to implement the two-state solution, with the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions.

The meeting also addressed developments in several countries in the region, with the two leaders stressing the importance of respecting the sovereignty of states, preserving their territorial integrity, and the capabilities of their peoples. They also emphasized the need to continue consultation, coordination, and joint action to restore regional stability.
