CNN-News18 has accessed a chilling new CCTV footage of the deadly blast near Delhi’s Red Fort on November 10, which showed the exact minute the slow-moving Hyundai i20 car exploded on a jam-packed road during peak hours.

At least 12 people lost their lives and 20 others were injured after a powerful explosion ripped through a car near Delhi’s Red Fort on Monday evening, prompting a high alert in the national capital.

At 6:52 pm on Monday, a white Hyundai i20 car pulled up to a red light at Subhas Marg, a crowded part of old Delhi, and exploded within seconds, sending shockwaves across the country. The new CCTV footage showed the exact moment the car exploded, catching nearby commuters unaware and plunging the area into chaos.

The blast occurred on Monday evening near the historic Red Fort — one of the country’s most famous landmarks and the site of the Prime Minister’s annual Independence Day address. Intelligence authorities have suspected Dr Umar Un Nabi, who worked as an Assistant Professor at the Al-Falah Medical College in Haryana’s Faridabad, of being the driver of the vehicle that exploded.

Union Cabinet Declares ‘Terror Attack’

Meanwhile, the Union Cabinet on Wednesday passed a resolution, recognising the blast near Delhi’s Red Fort on November 10 as a “terror attack" for the first time, and condemned the “dastardly and cowardly" incident that killed 12 people and injured dozens of others.

“The country has witnessed a heinous terror incident, perpetrated by anti-national forces, through a car explosion near the Red Fort on the evening of November 10, 2025. The explosion resulted in multiple fatalities, and caused injuries to several others," Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw read the cabinet resolution.

“The Cabinet directs that the investigation into the incident be pursued with the utmost urgency and professionalism so that the perpetrators, their collaborators, and their sponsors are identified and brought to justice without delay. The situation continues to be closely monitored at the highest levels of the government," it added.

Delhi Police have registered a case under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Explosives Act. Multiple raids are being carried out to trace those behind the explosion, officials said.
