Venezuelan skies were empty this Sunday morning as international flights avoided the Flight Information Region (FIR) controlled by operators of Simón Bolívar International Airport in Maiquetía, La Guaira state.
Clear airspace: A few hours ago, flights that would normally pass through Venezuelan airspace began to be diverted, commented the digital monitor FlightRadar24 on social media during the early morning.
The graphic attached by FlightRadar24 in its publication shows flights from the airlines GOL and Copa Airlines as they avoid the Maiquetía FIR on their way to Brazil and Trinidad and Tobago respectively.

This phenomenon began last Saturday, when the United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued an international advisory urging extreme caution when flying over Venezuela and the southern Caribbean Sea.
The military deployment ordered by US President Donald Trump against drug cartels appears to be entering a new escalation, forcing US authorities to warn of upcoming maneuvers in the region.

Below is a list of the current status of airlines operating in Venezuela:
– Iberia (Spain): canceled all its flights and is evaluating resuming them depending on developments.
