Colapinto's Defiance of Team Orders

The outcome of the 2025 United States Grand Prix has intensified the dispute over the Formula 1 Drivers' World Cup, with Max Verstappen consolidating its position after adding 33 points at the weekend, a result of his victories in both the main race and the Sprint. This performance allows the Dutch driver to Red Bull Racing approach the representatives of McLaren, Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris, who are currently at the top of the individual rankings.

The competition on the American circuit left Norris in second position, while Charles Leclerc completed the podium, a result that represents a relief for Ferrari after the difficulties experienced at the Singapore Grand Prix. Lewis Hamilton, meanwhile, finished in fourth place and contributed valuable points to the Italian team.

In contrast, McLaren , which already secured the Constructors' Championship ahead, now faces the challenge of maintaining its leadership in the Drivers' World Championship. The absence of Piastri on the podium and internal incidents, such as Saturday's clash between the team's drivers, have caused concern within the team.

The only retirement of the day corresponded to Carlos Sainz, who was unable to complete the race after a collision with Kimi Antonelli. For its part, Franco Colapinto crossed the finish line in seventeenth position with his Alpine. However, the Argentine pilot managed to finish ahead of Pierre Gasly , which represents a positive aspect in its performance.
