The U.S. Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) announced further sanctions on the Russian energy sector, targeting Lukoil and Rosneft.

According to a statement published by the ministry on its website:"These measures aim to increase pressure on the Russian energy sector and undermine the Kremlin's ability to raise revenue for its war machine and support its weakened economy."

The statement added that the United States will continue to call for a peaceful settlement to the war, stressing that lasting peace depends entirely on Russia's willingness to negotiate in good faith, and that the Treasury will continue to use its authorities to support the peace process.

"It's time to stop the killing and declare an immediate ceasefire," said Treasury Secretary Scott Besant."Because President Putin refuses to end this senseless war, the Treasury is imposing sanctions on Russia's two largest oil companies that fund the Kremlin's war machine."

"The Treasury is prepared to take further action if necessary to support President Trump's efforts to end another war. We encourage our allies to join us and comply with these sanctions," he added.
