To commemorate the 70th anniversary of Independence Day, Abdellatif Hammouchi, Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, presided over the annual Excellence Ceremony organized by the Mohammed VI Foundation for Social Works of National Security Employees at the Mohammed V Theater in Rabat on Tuesday evening, November 18, 2025.

In addition to security personnel and police officers of various ranks and specialties, representing both the General Directorate of National Security and the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance, this ceremony was attended by a group of retired national security personnel, children and orphans of police families, as well as a number of invitees from institutional partners from universities, service companies and public institutions that have partnership and cooperation relations with the Mohammed VI Foundation for Social Works of National Security Employees.

This ceremony marked the continuation of the annual tradition of honoring the children and orphans of the National Security family who achieved outstanding academic success and obtained the highest grades in the Baccalaureate exams for the 2024/2025 academic year. On this occasion, they were given grants and financial prizes to motivate and encourage them to continue their university education.

The financial incentives provided included university scholarships worth fifty thousand dirhams, granted in five installments at a rate of ten thousand dirhams per year and extending for five years throughout the period of higher academic education; it is an incentive and financial support allocated by the General Directorate of National Security to encourage the sons and daughters of its female and male employees to complete their higher education.

Twenty-five students from the families of National Security personnel benefited from this scholarship, having achieved the highest academic grades and enrolled in higher education institutions and universities. The second part of the financial incentives consisted of exceptional financial support ranging from 8,000 to 1,000 dirhams, which was directly distributed to the children and orphans of National Security personnel who excelled in their academic examinations during the past academic year. Sixty-eight students attended the ceremony to receive this support. It should be noted that 102 similar scholarships from this exceptional support program will be awarded to the remaining beneficiaries from the families of National Security personnel during regional ceremonies to be held in the coming days.

In parallel with the academic excellence grants that have been disbursed since 2021, the Mohammed VI Foundation for Social Works of National Security Employees launched, since last year, an ambitious social program consisting of partnerships and agreements with several higher academic institutions, with the aim of facilitating the enrollment of the children and orphans of academically outstanding police employees in these university institutions.

The events of this annual ceremony included honoring a group of police officers who won various artistic and sporting competitions organized by the Mohammed VI Foundation for Social Works of National Security Employees during the current year, which in turn falls within the context of supporting social work and promoting a culture of creativity among members of the National Security family.

Incidentally, the Laayoune State Security team was crowned as the winner of the first place in the annual indoor football league, as well as the two teams that came in second and third place; in addition, police officers who won first place in the Arab Cross Country Championship hosted by Iraq were honored and given financial and in-kind incentives to continue their sporting excellence locally and internationally.

For the first time, this year’s ceremony was distinguished by honoring a group of retired National Security personnel who were over 80 years old. They were welcomed and given certificates of appreciation and material gifts, in a step aimed at emphasizing the feelings of gratitude, affection and continuous appreciation that the General Directorate of National Security gives to its employees throughout their professional career and during their retirement period.

The honoring process is expected to include large segments of retired National Security personnel in the foreseeable future, with home visits being arranged for those who are unable to attend, to share with the National Security family the honoring ceremonies dedicated to retired policemen and policewomen.

The ceremony also included the presentation of financial awards to six police officers who won the visual arts competition. Thirty-seven officers participated, submitting 52 paintings, which were selected by experts and specialists from the Ministry of Culture. The competition culminated in the selection of a group of paintings created by male and female police officers, nominated by the competition's art committee, for public display in art galleries, showcasing the artistic talents of the National Security forces.

In addition to the paintings by police officers, which are characterized by professionalism and a high artistic level, the fine arts space witnessed the display of paintings by a group of children of the National Security benefiting from the summer camps organized by the Mohammed VI Foundation for Social Works of National Security Employees; these are creations that combine the spontaneity of childhood with emerging artistic talent.

The annual Excellence Ceremony of the Mohammed VI Foundation for Social Works of National Security Employees, in its current edition, brought many new developments, most notably doubling the number of beneficiaries of financial grants and school excellence awards, as well as integrating the honoring of retired National Security personnel, in a new vision that aims to link the present with the past among members of the police family, by integrating them into an integrated system of social services and health care, following the approach of the high royal care that King Mohammed VI bestows upon the National Security and Territorial Surveillance family.
