More aid and aid workers have headed into Gaza since the ceasefire began, including Perth woman Tess Ingram, a UNICEF spokesperson.

Trump declared the war was over and Ingram told A Current Affair it really did feel that way on the ground.

"I think that optimism is mixed with a sense of grief and loss among people as they realise what has been taken from them over the last two years," she said.

"I'm in Gaza City in the north, where I've spoken to families who've just returned here after the intense Israeli bombardment of the last two months, and they're finding their homes and their neighborhoods in ruins."

Ingram drove through the east and northern parts of Gaza City yesterday and described it as a "skeleton city".

"There's no life, no colour, just bones," she said.

"And it really affects you to see that at such a dramatic scale."

National Council of Jewish Women Australia president Lynda Ben-Menashe has been on the ground in Hostages Square today.

She told A Current Affair she'd visited four times since the October 7 attack but this was the first time she'd smiled.

"This incredible cheer came up from the crowd," she said.

"And every time we've seen the photo of one of the hostages talking to a parent or talking to a family member, there's been crying.

"There's been laughing, there's been just elation, and at the same time, there's tremendous sadness about the families who will not be receiving their loved ones back."

The final 20 living hostages who spent more than 700 days in Hamas captivity have now been released, Hamas has said.

The first seven hostages were freed a few hours ago and a second group of 13 were transferred a short time later into the custody of the Red Cross.

Hamas said the bodies of other hostages who had died would be handed over later.

Meanwhile, all 1966 Palestinian prisoners being released by Israel in the exchange have reportedly boarded buses headed for Gaza, according to officials.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have shared the first images of the hostages arriving back home.

In the photos, Alon Ohel is seen meeting Israeli forces in the Gaza Strip, according to the BBC.

Twin brothers Gali and Ziv Berman can also be seen embracing each other.

"We've waited 738 days to say this: They're finally home!" the IDF said in a post on Instagram.
