Ukrainian Defense Forces claim to be blocking the advance of Russian invading troops north of the strategically important Pokrovskoye in eastern Ukraine's Donetsk region. According to the NYP, US officials said they received “positive feedback” from Umerov during recent talks in Miami with negotiator Steve Witkoff. However, they stressed that Kiev has not formally approved the plan, which calls for Ukraine to make broad territorial concessions and reduce its armed forces.

"The plan was developed immediately after discussions with one of the top members of Zelensky's administration, Umerov. Umerov agreed with most of the plan and made a few adjustments, which we incorporated and presented to President Zelensky," the NYP quotes one of the American officials as saying.

According to NYP sources, the Ukrainian side is not “entirely enthusiastic” about the plan, but has accepted most of it. One of the most controversial provisions is a complete amnesty for all parties involved in the war, which would eliminate future legal claims regarding behavior on the battlefield. According to a senior White House official, this point was proposed by Kyiv itself.

After Friday's talks with a US delegation led by Deputy Secretary of Defense Dan Driscoll, Umerov said that the Ukrainian side"carefully studies each proposal of partners and clearly formulates its position." According to the RBK server, Ukraine stressed that"no decisions must violate Ukrainian sovereignty and the security of its people and must not exceed the limits that are insurmountable for Kiev." The Ukrainian constitution prohibits the cession of territory, and this option has been repeatedly ruled out in the past by President Volodymyr Zelensky.

We do not accept any agreement that crosses red lines.

Umerov later wrote on social media that Kiev would not accept any agreement that would"cross its red lines." TASR reports, citing an AFP report, which notes that Ukraine and its European allies are currently responding to a US proposal to end the war with Russia, but on terms favorable to Moscow.

"No decisions can be made outside the framework of our sovereignty, the security of our people, or our red lines - now, or ever," Umerov said on social media.

President Zelensky confirmed on Thursday that he had received from the United States their vision for ending the war. He added that Ukraine and the United States had agreed to continue cooperation on individual points to ensure their"credibility."

"We are ready for open and honest cooperation - Ukraine, the United States, our European and global partners," Zelensky said.

Ukraine has made fundamental adjustments

Ukraine has made major changes to one of the 28 points of the draft so-called"peace plan" that has been published in the media in recent days. The Wall Street Journal reported this, citing a senior American official.

The original version of the controversial point envisaged an audit of all international aid received by Ukraine, which, according to the newspaper,"was probably intended to reveal potential corruption."

A ceasefire? Russia offers only death and destruction in Ukraine

However, the revised draft removed that requirement. It was replaced with a provision that “all parties would receive ‘full amnesty for their actions during the war,’” the WSJ reported.

According to The Wall Street Journal, US officials emphasize that the terms of the agreement will be carefully coordinated with Kiev. US presidential spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt reported that Rustom Umerov, secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, “approved ‘most of the plan’” during the negotiations.

The WSJ also reports that European leaders are working on their own counterproposal to offer an alternative way to end the war. According to the newspaper, they are trying to convince Ukraine"to support their plan, which is more advantageous for Kiev."
