Ceasefire Violations and Tensions

Israel's Perspective

The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, received a phone call today from Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian.

At the beginning of the call, the Emir reiterated Qatar's strong condemnation of the attack on Al Udeid Air Base by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, considering it a flagrant violation of its sovereignty and airspace, as well as of international law and the United Nations Charter.

He stressed that this violation is completely inconsistent with the principle of good neighborliness and the close relations between the two countries, particularly as Qatar has always been a proponent of dialogue with Iran and has made strenuous diplomatic efforts in this regard.

He stressed the need for an immediate cessation of military operations and a serious return to the negotiating table and dialogue, in an effort to overcome this crisis and preserve the security of the region and the safety of its people.

For his part, the Iranian president expressed his regret to the Emir and the brotherly Qatari people for the damage caused by this attack, noting that the State of Qatar and its people were not the targets of this operation, and that this attack does not pose a threat to the State of Qatar.

He stressed that the State of Qatar will remain a neighboring, Muslim, and sisterly country, expressing his hope that relations between the two countries will always be based on the principles of respect for state sovereignty and good neighborliness.
