Lando Norris became the first Formula 1 world champion in his career, securing the title at the end of an exciting season that concluded today in Abu Dhabi.

The British McLaren driver took the third place he needed to take the crown from four-time champion Max Verstappen, who saw the checkered flag first, but was limited to second place in the overall standings, two points behind Norris, who collected 423 points.
Australian Oscar Piastri in the second McLaren, who had been leading the standings for much of the season, finished second in the United Arab Emirates Grand Prix and ended the year in third place in the standings, 13 points behind his teammate.
McLaren's double
Thus McLaren did the double, having long since secured the manufacturers' championship, while winning the drivers' title for the first time since 2008 and Lewis Hamilton's triumph.
With this success, Lando Norris becomes the 11th British driver to win the F1 world title. At the same time, he ends Max Verstappen's streak of four consecutive titles, which began in 2021, when the Dutchman took the world championship from Lewis Hamilton.
