Trump's Positive Framing of the Call

"I just had a very good phone call with Chinese President Xi. We discussed many topics, including Ukraine and Russia, fentanyl, soy and other agricultural products, etc. We made a good and very important deal for our big farmers - and it will only get better," Trump said in a post on his social media site Truth Social.

He assured that relations with China are very strong and both sides have made progress in implementing the decisions made at the leaders' meeting in South Korea at the end of October.

"Now we can focus on the bigger picture. To that end, President Xi invited me to Beijing in April, which I accepted, and I returned the invitation and will be my guest during my state visit to the United States later this year," Trump said. A state visit is accompanied by extended ceremonial, as was Xi's visit to the White House in 2015.

Neither Trump nor Chinese officials have disclosed details of their discussions about the war in Ukraine. After the leaders met in Busan, Trump reported only that they agreed to work with Xi to end the war.

China announces leaders' talks. Taiwan issue raised

According to a statement from the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Xi also presented China's"principled"  position on Taiwan. He emphasized that"Taiwan's return to China is an important part of the post-war international order" and appealed for jointly "protecting the fruits of victory in World War II."

Trump, quoted by the Chinese Foreign Ministry, was quoted as saying that he"completely agrees with Xi's views on bilateral relations" between Washington and Beijing.

He assured that both sides were implementing the agreements reached during the talks in South Korea. He also reportedly said that"The United States understands the importance of the Taiwan issue for China".
