On October 14, Zelenskyy stripped Odesa Mayor Gennady Trukhanov of his citizenship. This information emerged shortly after the Ukrainian leader's statement about the Russian citizenship of certain individuals.

The Ukrainian online publication Strana reported that Trukhanov intends to serve as acting mayor until the city council terminates his powers.
