Netanyahu said during a visit to the headquarters of the multinational forces in Kiryat Gat in the south of Israel, which are monitoring the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, that Israel wants to ensure that the goal agreed upon by the American and Israeli sides, which is disarmament of Hamas, is achieved and demilitarization of the Gaza Strip, The Times of Israel reported.

"We are working on it in stages, along with other components of the plan," emphasized Netanyahu who visited the headquarters of the multinational forces together with the commander of the US Central Command, Admiral Brad Cooper.

At least 60 people, including a large number of children, were killed during Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip during the past night, local hospital officials said.

The attacks came after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered the military to carry out"strong strikes" on Gaza, accusing Hamas of violating a ceasefire that took effect on October 10. Netanyahu's order came after Israeli officials said Hamas opened fire on Israeli forces in southern Gaza.

A brief statement issued Tuesday evening by the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that he had ordered" strong strikes"  by the army, but did not specify the reasons.

The Israeli army announced that one of its members was killed in an attack by Palestinian militants on troops stationed in the Rafah area of the southern Gaza Strip yesterday afternoon. Hamas has denied that it is connected to the attack and insists it is committed to the ceasefire agreement.

US President Donald Trump announced that" nothing" will threaten the truce in Gaza, but added that Israel" should retaliate"  if its soldiers are the target of an attack.

Earlier, the Israeli government informed the US President's administration of its decision to carry out attacks in Gaza City in response to ceasefire violations by Hamas, after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued that order, the Prime Minister's Office said.
