The World's Current Take

Maroc Telecom, a major player in the development of the telecommunications sector in Africa, has unveiled its new visual identity, which, according to its vision, represents a pivotal step in its strategic path, and embodies its ambition to keep pace with the rapid digital transformations within the “Digital Morocco 2030” vision and prepare for the era of the fifth generation (5G).

The visual transformation undertaken by the group, according to a statement from Maroc Telecom received by Hespress, involves replacing the blue and orange colors that accompanied its founding phase with red, a color symbolizing vitality, ambition, and pride in Moroccan identity. The new color is inspired by the national flag and expresses the energy of a Morocco confidently moving towards the future. Meanwhile, the brand retains the symbolic curves that characterize its original identity, but in a more fluid and dynamic form. These curves represent the flow of data and energy, and the continuity of communication, moving away from the familiar visual rigidity of traditional telecommunications symbols to give the brand a human and dynamic dimension that reflects the spirit of the times.

The essence of the new identity, according to the same statement, is embodied in two red curves: the first, a large one, symbolizes the national network connecting every home and citizen from Tangier to Lagouira and from Oujda to Dakhla, while the second, lighter and more dynamic, represents a light signal embodying the pulse of human connection and the promise of continuous change. Through their visual integration, the logo tells a story of the enduring connection between Maroc Telecom and its society, between heritage and future, and between infrastructure and the human dimension of service.

As part of this symbolic shift, Maroc Telecom announced the selection of international goalkeeper Yassine Bounou as its new brand ambassador, recognizing him as a symbol of excellence, commitment, and national pride. According to the company, Bounou embodies the values underpinning its new identity: ambition, confidence, team spirit, and a forward-looking perspective. His selection reflects Maroc Telecom's desire to connect with Moroccan youth and offer a model that links professional performance with national pride.

In a statement, Maroc Telecom Group CEO Mohamed Benchaaboun affirmed that “the change in visual identity represents a significant milestone in the company’s history, reflecting its continued commitment to proximity, innovation, and trust, while also looking towards the future.” He added that “the new logo embodies the collective energy of the Group’s teams, their drive for excellence, and their commitment to supporting the Kingdom’s long-term digital transformation.” He emphasized that Maroc Telecom will continue to connect regions, bring people closer together, and contribute to national development in a more connected and efficient Morocco.

Through this transformation, the group affirms its commitment to strengthening its connection with new generations, supporting innovation and digital entrepreneurship, and continuing to improve its services in line with the highest standards of quality and responsibility, renewing its ongoing commitment to being more than just a technology player, but a partner in building a modern, globally connected digital Morocco.
