Mertz stated that after talking with Zelensky he concluded that the war can only be ended by military power of Ukraine and that Germany will continue to provide financial, political and military support, Ukrainian Pravda reported.

"Capitulation is not an option, because then Russia will attack the next European country," the chancellor said. On October 17, at White House , Zelensky spoke with US President Donald Trump. 

He said he would offer Trump a deal to get cruise missiles" tomahawk" in exchange for Ukrainian unmanned systems.

According to media reports, at the meeting Trump made it clear that he is not yet considering the delivery of Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine.
