The spokesman of the Afghan Taliban Zabihullah Mujahid said that Pakistani forces launched attacks in Spin Boldak district of Kandahar province, Reuters reported.

Pakistani Prime Minister Mosharraf Zaidi 's spokesman accused Afghan forces of firing along the shared border.

" Pakistan remains on full alert and committed to ensuring its territorial integrity and the security of its citizens," Zaidi said.

A new round of peace talks between Pakistan and Afghanistan ended without progress, although both sides agreed to continue implementing a fragile truce.

Talks in Saudi Arabia last weekend were the latest in a series of meetings organized by Qatar, Turkey and Saudi Arabia to defuse tensions following border clashes in October that left casualties. Pakistani authorities have said that Afghan militants have carried out recent attacks in Pakistan, including suicide bombings involving Afghan nationals.

Kabul denies the allegations, saying it cannot be responsible for security inside Pakistan. Dozens of people were killed in the October clashes on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, the worst since the Taliban seized power in Afghanistan in 2021.
