JOHANNESBURG, KOMPAS.com - Vice President (Wapres) Gibran Rakabuming immediately attended the Indonesia-Africa CEO Forum after landing at O.R. Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg, South Africa, Friday (21/11/2025).

Gibran's visit to South Africa was in order to attend the G20 Summit to represent President Prabowo Subianto.

In his speech, Gibran said that he had just landed after a journey of around 11 hours from Jakarta to Johannesburg.

"Actually, I just arrived about an hour ago. It was a long flight, but I'm very happy to see you all here," Gibran said in his speech in English.

Furthermore, Gibran conveyed greetings from President Prabowo Subianto to the delegates present at the forum.

"Warm greetings from President Prabowo to all of you, and also deep appreciation to the South African Government for its hospitality and excellent arrangements," he said.

In the series of G20 Summit, Gibran said that the Indonesia-Africa CEO Forum was a big step to strengthen the relationship and commitment of the two countries, especially to expand collaboration with Africa to keep it very strong.

"Through collaboration, developing economies can shape the future. Global growth must not only be strong but also equitable and inclusive," said the Indonesian Vice President.

Touching on the South African President's Visit to Indonesia

Furthermore, Gibran mentioned the visit of South African President Cyril Ramaphosa when he met President Prabowo Subianto at the Merdeka Palace, Presidential Palace Complex, Central Jakarta on October 22, 2025.

According to Gibran, President Ramaphosa's recent visit to Indonesia reflects the close cooperation between the two countries.

At the meeting between President Prabowo and President Ramaphosa, he said, it had been agreed that there would be a visa-free period between the two countries.

"Both presidents agreed to visa-free entry, so I think this is good news for all of you, no more visas," he said.

"And also to encourage trade and investment in the agriculture and energy sectors," he said again.

The Indonesia-Africa CEO Forum was also attended by the President of the South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mtho Xulu and representatives of the relevant delegation from South Africa.

Meanwhile, from the Indonesian side, the meeting was also attended by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) Anindya Novyan Bakrie, Deputy Minister of Finance (Wamenkeu) Thomas Djiwandono, and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs (Wamenlu) Arrmanatha Nasir.
