Curfew Implementation in Los Angeles

Critical Analysis of Trump's Actions

President Claudia Sheinbaum assured that it is false that she encouraged violent protests in Los Angeles, California, in response to statements by Kristi Noem, Secretary of Homeland Security of the United States, who accused her of encouraging demonstrations in that city.

“A few moments ago, in response to a question from a media outlet, the United States Secretary of Homeland Security mistakenly mentioned that I encouraged violent protests in Los Angeles. I inform you that this is absolutely false,” Sheinbaum wrote on her X account.
"Here I leave my statement from yesterday, where I clearly condemn violent demonstrations. We have always been against them, and even more so now, in the high position I hold," he added in a post that included an excerpt from his Monday morning press conference.
“On the other hand, our position is and will continue to be the defense of honest, hardworking Mexicans who support the United States economy and their families in Mexico. I am confident that dialogue and respect are the best path to understanding between our people and our nations, and that this misunderstanding will be cleared up,” the president stated.

She added, “We do not agree with violent actions as a form of protest. The burning of police cars seems more like an act of provocation than resistance. It must be made clear: we condemn violence wherever it comes from. We call on the Mexican community to act peacefully and not fall for provocations,” Sheinbaum said on Monday.

Noem accuses Sheinbaum of encouraging protests in the US

U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem accused President Claudia Sheinbaum of encouraging protests in Los Angeles, California, against immigration raids.

"Sheinbaum encouraged more protests in Los Angeles, and I condemn that. She should not be encouraging the violent protests that are taking place. People have the right to peaceful protest, but the violence we've seen is unacceptable," Noem said at a press conference in the Oval Office alongside US President Donald Trump.

The head of U.S. immigration policy responded this way when the press asked for a reaction to Claudia Sheinbaum's condemnation of the violence that occurred in the Californian city.

Trump counts violence

Trump responded that he"also" condemns the violence and stressed that he managed to "stop" it with his decision to deploy the National Guard to quell the protests.

The Mexican president declared on Sunday that"it is not with raids or violence" that the immigration issue can be resolved and this Tuesday she called for a "comprehensive immigration reform" that recognizes the role of Mexicans living in the United States.

Mexico expresses concern over raids

Since Saturday, the Mexican government expressed its"deep concern" over recent operations carried out by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Service (ICE) in cities across the United States, particularly in Los Angeles, California, which have resulted in the detention of dozens of migrants, including Mexican nationals.

To quell the protests, Trump ordered the deployment of 2,000 National Guard troops and 700 marines to the city without seeking authorization from Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom, an unprecedented move in the past six decades.

who accuse the president of unnecessarily escalating the conflict.
