Although the"Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant" located in the city of Bushehr in southern Iran is one of the country's most important nuclear facilities, the work of Russian technicians prevented Israeli attacks from concentrating there.

'WE ARE CONCERNED'

The latest statement from the Kremlin reads:"We call on the Israeli government to immediately stop attacks on nuclear facilities in Iran, and we are concerned about the security of the Bushehr power plant where Russian experts work."

Approximately two years after the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran began its operations in 1974, Iran and Germany reached an agreement on the establishment of a nuclear power plant.

GERMANS ABANDONED THE PROJECT

When the project was approximately 70% completed, the German contractors abandoned the project due to the"1979 Revolution" in Iran.

The second construction process, which began with the Germans after the revolution, was interrupted once again by Iraq's bombing of Bushehr during the Iran-Iraq war.

The Tehran administration signed an agreement with Russia regarding the construction of the facility in 1995.

The construction of the power plant, which the Moscow administration promised to deliver by the end of 2000, could not be completed due to the pressure on Moscow from the USA and its allies and the influence of other international balances.

The power plant began operating at full capacity in 2012 and was transferred to Iran in September 2013.

The 1000-megawatt capacity nuclear power plant in Bushehr province on the Persian Gulf coast began operating on September 4, 2011 with an initial 60-megawatt electricity generation capacity, rising to 940 megawatts in April 2012.

In his speech during his visit to Bushehr in January 2015, former Iranian President Hassan Rouhani announced that the power plant's electricity production had reached 3,000 megawatts.

MORE THAN 200 RUSSIAN TECHNICIANS ARE WORKING

Israel hit Natanz and Fordo in the first days of its attacks, and today it hit the Arak Heavy Water Plant. According to initial reports, there was no damage to the facility and no nuclear leak was detected.

Behrouz Kamalvandi, the spokesman for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, said that after the attack on the Fordo Nuclear Facility in the Israeli city of Qom a few days ago, the facility suffered minor damage but no nuclear contamination occurred.

Kemalvendi reported that after the attack on the Natanz Nuclear Facility in the city of Isfahan, nuclear pollution occurred within the facility, but this pollution did not spread outside the facility.

While Israel has refrained from targeting Bushehr despite striking the nuclear facilities in question, it is stated that more than 200 Russian technicians are currently working at the facility.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Putin said that Russian engineers were helping Iran build two new reactors at its Bushehr facility, adding,"We are in constant dialogue with our Iranian stakeholders. Our experts are working in Bushehr, 250 of them are there. We are not leaving there. This is support."

Putin also added that they had agreed with the Israeli administration to ensure the security of Russians working in Iran.
