US President Donald Trump left the G7 summit in Canada early amid aggravation of the situation in the Middle East As it says CNN, this was initially reported by White House press secretary Caroline Leavitt.

"President Trump had a great day at the G7 summit, even signing a major trade deal with the United Kingdom and Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Much was accomplished, but due to what is happening in the Middle East, President Trump will be leaving tonight (the night of June 17, Kyiv time) after dinner with the heads of state."

Trump was scheduled to leave Canada on Tuesday after a press conference.

Trump later confirmed that he needed to return to Washington"as soon as possible" to deal with the current situation in the Middle East.

"I have to get back. It's very important... You're probably seeing what I'm seeing. And I need to get back as soon as possible."

Secretary of State Marco Rubio is also returning to Washington with Trump.

CNN also reports that Trump has instructed members of his team to try to meet with Iranian officials as soon as possible to determine whether Tehran is serious about diplomacy to resolve its conflict with Israel.

Updated 8.40. French President Emmanuel Macron said that Donald Trump had made a proposal for a ceasefire between Israel and Iran, and the shortening of his visit may be related to this.

"A proposal was made for a ceasefire and the start of broader discussions," Macron told reporters.

However, later Trump refuted Macron's words, stating that the shortening of his visit has nothing to do with the ceasefire, but pursues"much larger" goals.

"Popularity-seeking French President Emmanuel Macron falsely claimed that I left the G7 Summit in Canada to return to Washington to work on a 'ceasefire' between Israel and Iran. Wrong! He has no idea why I am now heading to Washington, but it certainly has nothing to do with a ceasefire. Much more. Intentionally or not, Emmanuel is always wrong," Trump wrote.
