Fire crews and members of the armed forces of Bangladesh are working together to put out the fire, which broke out  in the section for the import of goods, it says BSS news.

According to the official Tahla Bin Yashim from the fire service, 30 units have been deployed on the ground, while the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are still being determined.

So far, there are no victims reported.

Members of the Air Force, Navy and Civil Defense of Bangladesh participate in the shutdown, and the executive director of the airport, Group Captain S.M. Ragib Samad said that the situation is under control.

Fire at Dhaka airport

Several international flights were diverted to Kolkata, while other planes were held up on the tarmac.

According to the airport authorities, among the diverted flights are those of"US-Bangla Airlines","IndiGo","Air Arabia" and "Cathay Pacific".

Local traffic was also affected, with some flights having to be turned back or diverted to other airports.

Officials said the area of the fire has been cordoned off and the cause is under investigation.

Normal airport operations will resume after the fire is completely extinguished and safety confirmed.
