In statements to the press following a meeting held on Monday, on the King's orders, and chaired by the Sovereign's advisors, Taib Fassi Fihri, Omar Azziman and Fouad Ali El Himma, and dedicated to updating and formulating in detail the autonomy initiative, within the framework of Moroccan sovereignty, the leaders of Moroccan political parties welcomed the Sovereign's constant commitment to implementing the participatory approach whenever it concerns the country's major causes.
In this regard, the president of the National Rally of Independents (RNI), Aziz Akhannouch, stressed the importance of this meeting which took place in the presence of the Minister of the Interior and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans residing abroad.
The president of the RNI stated that this meeting was an opportunity to express sincere thanks to the King who, as is customary, consults with political parties on major national issues.
In this regard, he added that his party will work towards developing a vision for the future of the national cause, in light of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2797 on the Moroccan Sahara.
For her part, the national coordinator of the collegial management of the general secretariat of the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM), Fatima-Zahra Mansouri, indicated that as a political party, the PAM expressed all its joy and pride following the adoption of Security Council resolution 2797 concerning the Moroccan Sahara which enshrined the preeminence of the Moroccan autonomy initiative.
The PAM fully supports this participatory and consultative approach aimed at engaging in collective reflection to arrive at a more detailed vision regarding the autonomy initiative within the framework of Moroccan sovereignty, she said.
For his part, the Secretary General of the Istiqlal Party (PI), Nizar Baraka, stated that this meeting was devoted to an essential issue, namely the updating and detailed formulation of the autonomy initiative under Moroccan sovereignty.
After describing the recent Security Council resolution as historic, he affirmed that Morocco is today embarking on a new stage during which the Kingdom will present an updated and detailed vision of the autonomy initiative, which forms the basis for negotiations for the definitive settlement of this artificial conflict around the Moroccan Sahara, which will open up prospects for development and stability, particularly at the Maghreb and regional levels.
In the same vein, the First Secretary of the Socialist Union of Popular Forces (USFP) party, Driss Lachgar, stated that political parties are called upon to develop an updated and detailed vision of the autonomy initiative under Moroccan sovereignty, calling for capitalizing on the Moroccan experience in advanced regionalization.
He highly praised the King’s commitment to involving political parties in this crucial step, noting that this enshrines the participatory approach that the Sovereign has consistently advocated whenever the country’s major causes are at stake.
For his part, the Secretary General of the Popular Movement (MP) party, Mohamed Ouzzine, emphasized the importance of this participatory and consultative meeting, noting that the Sovereign has consistently advocated this participatory approach whenever a societal and national issue is at stake.
This meeting focused on updating and formulating the autonomy initiative under Moroccan sovereignty, he added.
As for the Secretary General of the Party of Progress and Socialism (PPS), Mohamed Nabil Benabdellah, he noted that political parties are invited to present memoranda on their visions regarding the autonomy initiative in a precise and more detailed manner, adding that the PPS will strive to present its vision on this subject.
He went on to say that Morocco has embarked on a decisive turning point which requires greater mobilization of all the nation's vital forces to move forward with confidence and serenity.
In turn, the Secretary General of the Constitutional Union (UC), Mohamed Joudar, expressed his deep gratitude to the King, highly praising the Sovereign's approach of involving the political parties represented in both houses of Parliament in developing an updated and detailed vision of the autonomy initiative.
This important meeting comes after the adoption of Security Council resolution 2797, which enshrined the preeminence and relevance of the autonomy initiative under Moroccan sovereignty.
The Secretary General of the Justice and Development Party (PJD), Abdelilah Benkirane, for his part, stressed that today's meeting aims to involve political formations in developing a vision for updating and formulating the autonomy initiative under Moroccan sovereignty.
In this regard, he noted that political parties will fulfill their duty and fully assume their responsibilities.
As for Nabila Mounib, MP for the Unified Socialist Party (PSU), she stressed that the Moroccan Sahara issue has taken a new step forward after the UN Security Council resolution, which requires the development of an integrated national vision for a solution serving the entire Maghreb region.
The development of an integrated, updated and detailed vision of the autonomy initiative under Moroccan sovereignty is capable of guaranteeing the return of our brothers from the Tindouf camps to the motherland, she said.
