US President Donald Trump renewed his threat on Sunday to disarm Hamas if it does not give up its weapons, according to a breaking news report by Cairo News Channel.
In an interview with Fox News today, regarding the disarmament of Hamas, Trump said:"If they don't do what's expected of them, we will."
He continued: "Hamas pledged to disarm, but now it says it is targeting gangs."
Regarding the deployment of US forces in the Gaza Strip, Trump confirmed that he would not do so, justifying this by stating that there was no need for such a move, explaining that"if we had not destroyed Iran's nuclear arsenal, we would not have reached the Gaza agreement."
The US President stressed that the Gaza agreement is respected by all, including Arab and Islamic countries, and that Israel has approved it.
These statements came as accusations continue to be exchanged between Israel and Hamas regarding violations of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, with Tel Aviv threatening escalation and calling on residents to stay away from the Yellow Line.
An Israeli military official also announced that Tel Aviv may target the movement with further strikes in response to what he described as Hamas's"violations" of today's ceasefire agreement.
