The United Kingdom has begun relocating some military assets to the Middle East, including fighter jets, Prime Minister Keir Starmer confirmed, en route to the G7 summit in Canada, according to Sky News.
Trump and Putin discuss Iran-Israel conflict
US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation today on the escalation of the conflict between Iran and Israel, according to Russian news agencies, which quote the Kremlin's foreign policy advisor, Yuri Ushakov, Sky News reports.
IDF: Israel has established"air supremacy from western Iran to Tehran"
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that they had "established air supremacy from western Iran to Tehran."
Iran and Israel have launched missiles and airstrikes at each other, after Israel launched a large-scale air offensive on Iran.
In Tehran, Iranian state television reports that about 60 people, including 20 children, were killed in an attack on a residential complex, and other strikes were reported in other regions of the country.
Israel said it targeted and hit over 150 targets.
In Israel, air raid sirens sent residents into shelters as waves of rockets crossed the sky and interceptors were sent to neutralize them.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman in a phone call that the attack on Iran demonstrated that Israel led by Benjamin Netanyahu poses the greatest threat to stability in the region, according to a statement from Erdogan's office, Sky News reports.
During airstrikes on Iranian military and nuclear infrastructure, Iran's military claimed to have managed to shoot down two Israeli F-35 fighter jets, along with several drones, according to Sky News.
This would have been the first known loss of such an advanced flying machine.
The Iranian spokesman said the fate of the pilots was"still unknown" and that investigations were underway. However, no evidence was presented to support this claim.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that more than 20 senior commanders in the Iranian military were killed during airstrikes launched on Iran, according to Sky News.
Iran is considering closing the Strait of Hormuz, the world's most important sea route for oil transport, amid rising tensions in the region, Sky News reports.
