Russia's strikes on Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities confirm the need for solidarity and support for Ukraine by the international community.
As an Ukrinform correspondent reports, this was stated by Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney before his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during the G7 summit.
"I would like to begin by condemning in the strongest possible terms Russia's latest outrageous barbarity and expressing my deepest condolences and those of the Canadian people to the families and loved ones of those who have suffered," Carney said.
According to him, the members of the Group of Seven have already had discussions on this issue. “We emphasized the importance of exerting maximum pressure on Russia, which refuses to sit down at the negotiating table,” the prime minister noted.
He added that discussions on the situation in Ukraine will continue today among members of the Group of Seven and invited leaders of other states.
As Ukrinform reported, on the night of June 17, Russia launched over 440 drones and 32 missiles at Ukraine. Kyiv, Odesa, Zaporizhia, Chernihiv, Zhytomyr, Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, and Kyiv regions were hit.
In Kyiv, enemy strikes damaged 27 locations in various districts. Among them are residential buildings, educational institutions, and critical infrastructure facilities.
