CONFLICT ON THE PAKISTAN-AFGHANISTAN BORDER

On October 9, explosions were heard in Afghanistan's capital, Kabul, and the Afghan administration later blamed Pakistan for the explosions in Margha and Kabul.

On October 11, a clash broke out between the border forces of the two countries in the Paktia province of Afghanistan, on the Pakistani border.

The Afghan government claimed that 58 Pakistani soldiers were killed and 30 wounded in the clashes on the Pakistani border, and that a large amount of weapons and equipment fell into the hands of Afghan border guards.

Afghan government spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid announced that nine Afghan soldiers were killed in the clashes.

Mujahid had stated that the clashes were stopped after the mediation of Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

The Pakistani army reported that 23 Pakistani soldiers were killed and 29 wounded in clashes with Afghan border forces and claimed that more than 200"terrorists" with links to the Afghan government had been neutralized.

Clashes flared up again yesterday on the border between the two countries, and the Afghan government reported that 12 people were killed in the clashes. Afghanistan noted that these attacks were retaliatory, with many Pakistani soldiers killed.

The Pakistan Army Public Relations Department (ISPR) had also stated that Afghanistan had launched attacks on border posts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and that it was estimated that 25 to 30 Afghan forces were killed in response to the attacks.

It was claimed that the Afghan administration requested a ceasefire following clashes in the country's Spin Boldak region and Pakistan's Chaman region.
