The European Parliament rejected on Wednesday a motion of objection introduced by some right-wing and far-right circles against the draft delegated act presented by the European Commission as part of the implementation of its commitments arising from the Agreement in the form of an exchange of letters concluded between Morocco and the EU on October 3 concerning the export of Moroccan agricultural products to the European market.

With this vote, the European Parliament endorses the delegated act presented by the European Commission, which operationalizes in particular the reference to the regions of the Moroccan Sahara, in accordance with the Agreement.

It should be recalled that Morocco and the European Union signed, on October 3, 2025 in Brussels, the exchange of letters amending the agricultural agreement binding the two parties, confirming the application to agricultural products from the Southern Provinces of the same preferential access conditions to the European market as those from the rest of the Kingdom, in accordance with the Morocco-EU Association Agreement.

The same agreement introduces technical adjustments designed to facilitate access to the products and to enhance their value, particularly in terms of consumer information, through labelling mentioning the production regions in the South of the Kingdom – Laayoune-Sakiat el Hamra and Dakhla-Oued Eddahab.
