(Istanbul = Yonhap News) Correspondent Kim Dong-ho = Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed on the 9th (local time) that US President Donald Trump, who brought about the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, should receive the Nobel Peace Prize.
The Israeli Prime Minister's Office, in a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter) the day before the announcement of the Nobel Peace Prize winner, mentioned President Trump's X account,"@realDonaldTrump," and wrote,"Give him the Nobel Peace Prize, he deserves it."
The post included a photoshopped image of President Trump, holding a gold Nobel Prize medal around his neck and raising both hands, with Prime Minister Netanyahu standing beside him, smiling. The image also featured the phrase"peace through strength" and the flags of the United States and Israel.
Earlier, Prime Minister Netanyahu welcomed the agreement, saying it was"a great day for Israel."
After speaking with President Trump, he said,"I thank President Trump for his leadership, cooperation, and unwavering commitment to the security of Israel and the freedom of our hostages," adding,"This is a diplomatic success for the State of Israel and a national and moral victory."
