Iran launched a wave of missiles and drones into Israeli territory early Sunday morning, killing at least 13 people and wounding more than 380, according to local authorities. The hardest hit areas are in the center and north of the country, where several residential buildings suffered significant damage.
In response, Israel carried out airstrikes against strategic targets in Iran, including the Defense Ministry headquarters in Tehran and other facilities associated with Iran's nuclear program, according to the Israeli military. Among the targets hit were an oil depot and a fuel tank on the outskirts of Tehran.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in a televised address, assured that the military operation will continue “as long as necessary” to eliminate the threat posed by Iran's nuclear program.
