Morocco participated in a major global corporate sport conference, demonstrating its concrete actions for health and performance in the workplace. On November 16, APSEM traveled to the Andalusian jewel, Málaga, Spain, for the General Assembly of the World Federation for Company Sport (WFCS).
The Moroccan delegation was led by Mr. Younes El Mechrafi, President of APSEM and Vice-President for Africa of the WFCS, accompanied by Othmane Ibn Ghazala, Executive Director. They presented APSEM's initiatives to make sport a concrete driver of health, cohesion, and performance in Moroccan companies.
During the Assembly, several important points were addressed. A moving tribute was paid to Velizar Deric, president of the Serbian federation, who recently passed away, in recognition of his commitment and significant contribution to the development of corporate sport.
Discussions also focused on preparations for the 2026 World Company Sport Games in Denmark, ensuring the event runs smoothly. Furthermore, Málaga was officially designated as the host city for the 2030 World Company Sport Games, highlighting the growing importance of this destination on the international calendar.
The Assembly also discussed the organization of the 2026 European Company Winter Sport Games, scheduled to take place in Jaca, Spain, and the associated logistical details. Finally, the WFCS Oversight Committee welcomed a new member, Mark Marlow, President of MESA in Malta, thus strengthening the governance and oversight of the federation's activities.
The Move At Work project, supported by Erasmus+ Sport, was presented as a simple way to encourage physical activity at work and to link health and professional performance.
At the end of the meeting, El Mechrafi and Didier Besseyre, president of the WFCS, signed a partnership agreement to strengthen cooperation between Morocco and the world federation. This partnership will pave the way for new programs, exchanges of experience, and concrete development of corporate sport in Morocco.
Since its creation in 2019, APSEM has brought together several important players in the country, such as the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM), the CMIM, the FMM, the Moroccan Association for Sport and Development (AMSD), the Moroccan Bank for Commerce and Industry (BMCI) and the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Morocco.
Its mission is to promote employee well-being and collective performance through sport. It is also supported by three renowned Vice-Presidents: Nawal El Moutawakel, Kamal Lahlou and Abdelaziz Alaoui.
The WFCS, created in 2014, brings together around thirty associations worldwide and works to promote sport in the professional environment.
With this participation and partnership, Morocco demonstrates its active role on the international corporate sports scene and proves its belief in the power of sport to transform the lives of employees. This momentum should quickly translate into new initiatives, both nationally and in major international competitions, where the Kingdom now intends to assert its presence and role.
