Zelensky and Ukraine Response

Military and Strategic Analysis

The next meeting between Trump and Putin has been agreed upon: US President Donald Trump has announced that he will meet with Russian leader Vladimir Putin in Hungary's capital, Budapest, to try to end the war between Russia and Ukraine. However, the date has not yet been set.

The two had previously spoken for a long time on the phone. Regarding the call, Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform:"I just finished my phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, and it was very productive. President Putin congratulated me and the United States on the great achievement of peace in the Middle East."

According to Trump, representatives from both countries will also meet next week. Trump stated:"The initial meetings will be led by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, along with various other individuals to be named. The location of the meeting is yet to be determined."

There was also talk about economic relations between the two countries once the war in Ukraine was over.

On Friday, Trump will meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Zelensky wants to discuss, among other things, further military aid with Trump. Trump said:"He wants guns. He wants Tomahawks."

The US President had previously not ruled out the delivery of Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine and recently said he wanted to discuss the issue with the Russian side.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov warned against such a delivery on Monday. Tomahawk cruise missiles have a range of up to 2,500 kilometers and can, in principle, also be equipped with nuclear warheads.

“I don’t know why he continues this war.”

On Tuesday, Trump said at the White House:"I'm very disappointed because Vladimir and I had a very good relationship. We probably still do. I don't know why he's continuing this war."

Putin simply doesn't want to end the war, Trump said."And I think that makes him look very bad. He could end it. He could end it quickly."
