During massive attack On the night of November 8, the Russian Federation struck substations that supply electricity to the Khmelnytskyi and Rivne nuclear power plants. This was reported by Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga in network X, calling on the IAEA to urgently convene a Board of Governors.

"In today's attacks, Russia again shelled substations that supply electricity to the Khmelnytskyi and Rivne nuclear power plants. These were not random, but well-planned strikes. Russia is deliberately endangering nuclear safety in Europe. We call for an urgent convening of the IAEA Board of Governors to respond to these unacceptable risks," he wrote.

Sibiga also called on all states that value nuclear security, including China and India, to demand that Russia stop reckless attacks on nuclear energy, which could lead to catastrophic consequences.

"It is necessary to exert global pressure to force Moscow to stop nuclear blackmail," the minister emphasized.

Recall that the IAEA previously confirmed Russian attacks at substations critical to nuclear safety and security in Ukraine. Agency teams reported that personnel at the South Ukraine and Khmelnytskyi nuclear power plants lost access to one of their external power lines. In addition, the IAEA team at the Rivne nuclear power plant reported that the plant had reduced the power of two of its four units at the request of the network operator.
