US President Donald Trump's administration has developed a new national security strategy that portrays allies in Europe as weak and aims to restore American dominance in the Western Hemisphere.

A White House document released on Friday sharply criticized Europe's migration and freedom of expression policies, suggested that they face"the prospect of civilizational extinction," and expressed doubts about whether they will be reliable as America's partners in the long term.

The US

strategy is"primarily motivated by what is beneficial to America, or, in two words, 'America First,'" the document states.

This is the first national security strategy since Trump returned to office in January. It is a sharp departure from the course set by President Joe Biden's administration, which sought to rebuild alliances after Trump's first presidency.

As the strategy states, ending Russia's war against Ukraine is in America's vital interest. However, the document makes clear that the United States wants to improve relations with Russia and that ending the war is a fundamental U.S. interest in"restoring strategic stability with Russia."
