The UAE national team secured its qualification for the semi-finals of the Arab Cup, after overcoming its Algerian counterpart in the quarter-finals with a penalty shootout 7-6, after the match ended in extra time with a 1-1 draw, which took place on the grounds of “Al Bayt Stadium” in Al Khor, Qatar.

The first half saw no goals, despite numerous attempts from both sides, with some relative pressure from the Algerian team.

With the start of the second half, “Al-Khadra” managed to take the lead, thanks to player Adel Boulbina, who managed to score the first goal in the 46th minute, after the ball rebounded from the hand of the UAE goalkeeper Hamad Al-Muqbali, following a powerful shot from Yacine Brahimi.

The UAE team managed to equalize the score in the 64th minute, through Bruno Oliveira, after a decisive pass from Caio Lucas.

The match went into extra time, where the performance of both teams declined and they were content with modest attempts that did not help either side to win, so the match went to penalty kicks.

The UAE national team will face their Moroccan counterparts in the semi-finals, after Morocco defeated Syria 1-0 in the quarter-finals on Thursday.
