The U.S. and Royal Moroccan Navies recently trained together to coordinate tactics and improve…
On Instagram, the US Fleet Forces Command indicated yesterday, Monday, November 17, that this joint mission constitutes a new step in strengthening interoperability and deepening maritime ties between the two navies, describing Morocco as a long-standing regional security partner.
The exercise, which took place during the summer at the port of Casablanca, had as its main objective the assessment of port infrastructure deemed strategic. American and Moroccan divers worked side by side to inspect different underwater areas and analyze the condition of the facilities.
The two-week operation will serve to evaluate certain port infrastructure to determine its feasibility for future visits by U.S. Navy ships. It also includes a thorough hydrographic survey, conducted with the support of the Naval Oceanographic Office, explained Lieutenant Ehrick Costello, the officer in charge of UCT One.
These training exercises are part of a broad military partnership, which includes regular joint exercises, including Operation African Lion, as well as training and technical assistance activities between the two countries.
