"I am waiting for the results of today's talks and I hope that all participants will be constructive. We all need a positive solution," the Ukrainian leader said.

Zelensky emphasized that the most important thing is to stop the bloodshed. He added that the conditions for peace must be established so that war does not erupt again in the future.

The politician expressed satisfaction with the resumption of peace talks. He stated that the Ukrainian and European teams remain in"close contact".

The Ukrainian delegation started its meeting with European partners

"The Ukrainian delegation, appointed by President Volodymyr Zelensky, has started work in Geneva. I held the first meeting with the national security advisors of the leaders of Great Britain, France and Germany: Jonathan Powell, Emmanuel Bonne and Guenther," Andriy Yermak, head of the Ukrainian Presidential Office, said just before Zelensky published his statement.

He said that further talks were planned with the delegation of the United States.

"The attitude is very constructive. Overall, many meetings in various formats are scheduled today. We continue to work together to achieve a lasting and just peace for Ukraine," he emphasized.

Reuters reported earlier that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and US Presidential Special Envoy Steve Witkoff are already in Geneva. US Secretary of the Army Daniel Driscoll is also expected to represent the US side.

Late on Saturday evening, a Ukrainian delegation arrived in Geneva, with whom, according to Reuters, American envoys held talks overnight. The agency's sources emphasized that the talks were constructive and aimed, among other things, at coordinating the course of the negotiations.

American envoys to the Geneva negotiations also expressed the opinion that they expected lengthy talks in various formats.

The Ukrainian side reported on Saturday that in addition to the head of the presidential office, Andriy Yermak, who headed the delegation, the following persons also arrived in Switzerland: Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) Rustem Umerov, Head of Military Intelligence (HUR) Kyrylo Budanov, Chief of the General Staff Andriy Hnatov, Head of the Foreign Intelligence Service Oleh Ivashchenko and Deputy Foreign Minister Serhiy Kyslytsia.

Representatives from France, Germany, Great Britain, and Italy are also expected to participate in the talks in Geneva. No one from the Russian side is participating.

Axios published details on Thursday about the 28-point US peace plan for Ukraine. According to the plan, Kyiv is to commit, among other things, not to join NATO, to limit its military to 600,000 troops, and to cede some territory to Russia.

According to key European countries, the 28-point peace plan negotiated by the United States and Russia includes too many concessions to the Kremlin. For this reason, European leaders reportedly sent their counterproposal to the authorities in Washington and Kyiv, which – it is estimated – may also be the subject of Sunday's negotiations in Geneva.

Kiev's European partner countries are also expected to propose that Ukraine regain control of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, the Kakhov Hydroelectric Power Plant and the Kinburn Spit, occupied by Russia from 2022.
