Ukrainian Military Operations Against Russian Forces

The UK has resupplied Ukraine with an additional batch of Storm Shadow cruise missiles to support Kyiv’s strikes deep inside Russian territory, Bloomberg reported, citing people familiar with the matter.

According to the sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity, the delivery was made to ensure Ukraine remains well-stocked for the coming winter months. London reportedly fears the Kremlin may intensify attacks on Ukrainian civilians as temperatures drop.

The exact number of missiles transferred was not disclosed.

The UK government has not confirmed the delivery, nor does it publicly announce its missile shipments to Ukraine.

The Storm Shadow is a British-French air-launched cruise missile capable of striking targets more than 250 kilometers (155 miles) away with high precision. Since its first confirmed use by Ukraine in 2023, it has been a key weapon in deep-strike operations targeting Russian logistics, command centers and airbases.

The renewed shipment comes as the UK and its allies publicly reaffirm their support for Kyiv.

British officials said their assistance aims to show Russian President Vladimir Putin that Western resolve will outlast the Kremlin’s ability to finance its war.

In July, Kyiv Post reported that France’s Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu announced on X that production of the Anglo-French Storm Shadow/SCALP-EG cruise missiles was about to resume.

The post came after he had visited the MBDA factory in the UK’s Stevenage with the British Defence Secretary John Healey.

“Supplied to Ukraine, the Franco-British SCALP/Storm Shadow missile has demonstrated its effectiveness in modern high-intensity combat, in decisive situations,” Lecornu wrote at the time.

The MBDA, which designed and built the missile, is a joint venture between France, the UK, Italy, and Germany. The production resumption marked the first new order for the Franco-British precision weapon in 15 years.
