"'We talked about the future of Ukraine. We talked about all important issues that are important for Ukraine, for the Ukrainian people, and the United States of America extremely supported us," said Umerov and pointed out that the previous meeting in Geneva was the basis for today's "successes", reports Ukrinform.
He expressed his gratitude to the US negotiating team, that is, to US Secretary of State Mark Rubio, special envoy Steve Witkoff and son-in-law of US President Donald Trump Jared Kushner.
Rubio said after the meeting that the negotiations were very productive and useful and that tremendous progress had been made.
He pointed out that the teams are not only working on conditions that will end the fighting between Ukraine and Russia, but also on"conditions that will set Ukraine up for long-term prosperity."
He stressed that Russia will play a central role in any agreement on ending the war with Ukraine, evaluating the peace negotiations as delicate and complicated.
"There's a lot of things that are moving and obviously there's another side involved that's going to have to be part of the equation," Rubio said.
