Morocco has formalized an order for ten H225M helicopters from Airbus Helicopters, the aircraft manufacturer announced in a press release.
The aircraft will be destined for the Royal Moroccan Air Force and will replace the Pumas that have been in service for several decades. Airbus Helicopters CEO Bruno Even indicated that this order is part of the ongoing cooperation between Morocco and Airbus, which spans several decades. He noted that the H225M is now widely used for complex missions, particularly in challenging conditions.
The helicopters ordered by the Royal Air Force can be configured to carry machine guns, as well as an electronic warfare system for self-protection. The contract also includes a support component, including connected services designed to optimize aircraft availability and maintenance.
Internationally, more than 360 H225 and H225M helicopters are in service, representing nearly 980,000 cumulative flight hours. Several countries operate this type of helicopter in military or special missions, including France, the Netherlands, Hungary, Brazil, Mexico, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Iraq, and Kuwait.
