NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said Iran must not develop nuclear weapons. Rutte made the statement on Monday, ahead of the NATO summit in The Hague.

"Allies have repeatedly urged Iran to fulfill its obligations under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT)," Rutte said.

NATO chief says all member states have reached an agreement in principle. The idea is clear: Iran must not develop nuclear weapons.

Rutte also provided details about the alliance's new economic plan. He announced an increase in defense investment. The level will reach 5% of GDP.

"As leaders begin to gather here for the summit, this is our goal - to make sure that we have everything we need to deter and defend against any threat," Rutte said.

He identifies Russia as the greatest danger to NATO at this time. He calls it the"most significant threat" to common security.

The NATO summit will bring together leaders from member states, including the President of Romania, Nicușor Dan. The agenda will include key themes: deterrence, defense, investment, and unity.
