No Progress/Compromise Reached

Putin's Accusations Against Europe

On Tuesday, Vladimir Putin met in Moscow with American envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, who is Donald Trump's son-in-law. The meeting focused on negotiations on a peace plan for Ukraine.

- Vladimir Putin's conversation with Steve Witkoff was useful, constructive and significant.  We did not discuss specific wording or specific proposals, but we discussed the essence of what was included in this American plan," said Yuri Ushakov, advisor to the Russian president. At the same time, he noted that both sides agreed that the agreements reached would remain secret.

The negotiations lasted almost five hours. Ria Novosti reports that after they ended, Steve Witkoff went to the US Embassy in Moscow.

Negotiations in the Kremlin have ended."We are ready for further talks."

"The president asked for friendly greetings to Donald Trump, but also for a number of important political signals," he added. He also stated that the Americans had presented proposals for resolving territorial issues, but no compromise was reached during the meeting.

"We could agree on some issues, as the president confirmed to his interlocutors. Some proposals were met with our criticism," Ushakov said.

Peace Plan for Ukraine. Urgent Meeting in Moscow

At the beginning of the meeting, according to the propaganda agency RIA Novosti, Putin told Witkoff that he was glad to see him. The American envoy reportedly described his walk around Moscow and called the Russian capital an"incredible city."

Photos released by Russian media show that Putin's advisor Yuri Ushakov and Kremlin envoy Kirill Dmitriev were also seated at the negotiating table. Both sides also have their own translators. Previously, Witkoff used Kremlin translators during meetings with Vladimir Putin, for which he was criticized. It was claimed that this may have led to some of Putin's statements not being translated to the American representative.

Just before the meeting began, the Russian president accused European countries of trying to block the peace talks by submitting new proposals to the peace plan that Moscow would be unable to agree to."They are advocating war. All these changes have one goal: to block the entire peace process by making demands that are completely unacceptable to Russia," Putin stated.
