The next matches of the qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup have taken place.

Following England, France, Croatia, Portugal, and Norway, the national teams of Germany and the Netherlands have joined the list of European countries that have guaranteed themselves tickets to the final tournament of the World Cup, Ukrinform reports.

The Germans defeated the Slovakian team 6:0 in Leipzig today and took first place in Quartet A, the Slovaks will play in the qualifying playoffs, Ukrinform reports.

The Netherlands in Amsterdam, in turn, left no chance for Lithuania - 4:0, winning qualifying group G, which will be represented in the play-offs by the second team of this quintet, Poland.

The holders of the last five direct tickets to the 2026 World Cup will be determined on Tuesday, November 18, based on the results of matches in groups B (candidates - Switzerland and Kosovo), C (Denmark or Scotland), E (Spain or Turkey), H (Austria or Bosnia and Herzegovina) and J (Belgium/North Macedonia/Wales).

As a reminder, the Ukrainian national team took 2nd place in Quartet D and will continue qualifying for the 2026 World Cup in the playoff round, the draw for which will take place on November 20.

It should be noted that the 12 group winners will immediately qualify for the 2026 World Cup based on the results of the group stage matches. Four more places from Europe will be determined in March based on the results of the play-off matches involving 16 teams. The 12 teams that take second place in the groups will qualify for the play-off matches, as well as the four best group winners of the 2024/25 Nations League that did not take first or second place in the group stage of the qualification.

The final stage of the 23rd FIFA World Cup, featuring 48 teams, will be held in the United States, Mexico, and Canada from June 11 to July 19, 2026.
