Prabowo Arrives at Subang Air Force Base, Malaysia, to Attend the 47th ASEAN Summit

The ASEAN Summit will take place at the Convention Centre (KLCC), Kuala Lumpur, on 26-28 October 2025.

Right under the steps of the Garuda Indonesia-1 aircraft, President Prabowo's arrival was welcomed by Malaysian Defense Minister Dato Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.

On the air base apron, a line of honor guards, complete with their regalia, welcomed President Prabowo's arrival.

The ranks of Malaysian officials who also welcomed President Prabowo's arrival included the Head of Protocol for the Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dato Yubazlan bin Yusof, Assistant Head of Human Resources Staff at the Royal Malaysian Air Force Headquarters, Brigadier General Nazaruddin bin Haron.

Meanwhile, the ranks of Indonesian officials who welcomed the President's arrival at Subang Air Force Base were Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono, Deputy Indonesian Ambassador to Malaysia Danang Waskito, and Defense Attaché of the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur Brigadier General Tri Andi Kuswantoro.

After greeting each of the officials who welcomed his arrival, President Prabowo continued to follow the welcoming procession from the honor guard.

After that, the President, who was also accompanied by Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, entered the vehicle and went straight to the hotel where the President and his entourage were staying overnight in Kuala Lumpur.

In Kuala Lumpur, President Prabowo attended not only the 47th ASEAN Summit but also other ASEAN meetings with partner countries outside the Southeast Asian region. Other summits attended by President Prabowo included the 28th ASEAN Plus Three (China, Japan, and South Korea) Summit, the 20th East Asia Summit, and the ASEAN-United Nations (UN) Summit.

Then, there was also the ASEAN-New Zealand Commemorative Summit held to commemorate 50 years of ASEAN-New Zealand dialogue.

The series of events for the 47th ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, included 25 important meetings, including those highlighting strategic agendas including the potential use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes and ASEAN's position on the genocide situation in Gaza, Palestine.

The ASEAN Summit in the next few days will also make history, as the 10 ASEAN members will confirm Timor Leste as the 11th member of ASEAN.

Malaysia, which this year chairs ASEAN and acts as host, explained that at the ASEAN leadership level there were 14 meetings, while at the ASEAN ministerial level there were six meetings.

The meetings discussed various ASEAN priority issues, including economics, inclusive trade, climate sustainability and clean energy, and the development of digital economic infrastructure in the region.

At the ministerial level, several agreements have been jointly agreed upon, one of which concerns an integrated electricity network in the region, which also opens up the possibility of utilizing nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.
