The military wing of Hamas says it will hand over the body of a dead hostage today, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.
At the same time, the Israeli armed forces said that two Palestinians who approached in a"threatening" manner towards the location of Israeli forces were killed.
Gaza health authorities said Israeli forces shot dead a Palestinian man who was collecting firewood. Israeli authorities were unable to confirm whether the two cases were linked, Reuters noted.
Despite the almost daily violence, Israel and Hamas continued to exchange remains of the dead, under the terms of a US-brokered ceasefire agreement that went into effect on October 10.
Hamas has handed over all 20 live hostages held in Gaza in exchange for nearly 2,000 Palestinian prisoners held in Israel. The Islamist group has promised to hand over the remains of the dead hostages, but says the destruction in Gaza is making it difficult to recover the bodies. Israel accuses Hamas of stalling.
Hamas has so far returned 21 of the 28 bodies of hostages buried in Gaza. In exchange, Israel has handed over 285 bodies of Palestinians killed since the war began in October 2023, Gaza health authorities said.
